The need for an infrastructure upgrade at Atherton Hospital has been identified. This includes improvement of patient and staff amenity, more efficient work flows and flexibility to respond to changing service requirements including future capacity growth.
The objectives of the proposal are:
- to respond to clinical service needs on the Tablelands through a coordinated service approach for Atherton and Mareeba Hospitals
- to enhance service delivery at Atherton Hospital by providing a physical environment that supports the efficient delivery of health services, both now and into the future
- to address identified concerns with the current built infrastructure by upgrading or replacing existing facilities
- options to address these objectives are currently under development.
Subject to government endorsing the preliminary evaluation, site master planning including preparation of the project definition plan and schematic design will be undertaken during the business case development stage.
