A growing and ageing population throughout the South Burnett region, coupled with increasing incidence of chronic disease and co-morbidity, has significantly increased demand for services provided by Kingaroy Hospital.
To meet this demand, an infrastructure upgrade at Kingaroy Hospital has been identified. Buildings which originate from 1938 do not support contemporary models of care and also constrain the hospital’s ability to provide culturally appropriate environments for the treatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander patients.
The objectives include:
- enable enhancement of service delivery at Kingaroy Hospital by providing a physical environment that is appropriately sized and is able to support the efficient delivery of health services both now and into the future
- respond to the current and emerging infrastructure gaps with the current built environment with an upgrade.
Options to address these objectives are currently under development.
Following endorsement of the preliminary evaluation, site master planning including preparation of the project definition plan and schematic design will be undertaken during the business case development stage.
