Proposal Stage of Development: Preliminary Business Case Complete
Date of Publication: December 2016
The scope and scale of Logan Hospital’s services and physical infrastructure are insufficient to meet the demand of the Logan community. Factors driving this demand include a growing and ageing population and disproportionate demand for emergency services. Capacity constraints result in extended emergency department and outpatient waiting times, emergency department overcrowding and delays in provision of care.
The objectives of the proposal are to:
- relieve pressure on current infrastructure by increasing onsite capacity
- help address long wait times, improve operational and clinical performance, and achieve treatment targets
- deliver healthcare closer to home and improve patient outcomes.
Several options have been considered, including expansion of existing facilities or construction of new facilities.
