Proposal Stage of Development: Detailed Business Case Underway
Date of Publication: December 2016
The existing water supply infrastructure in the Fitzroy Basin and Gladstone region may not be able to meet the forecast increase in demand for water supply due to industrial growth, urban growth and potential agricultural development.
The objective of the proposal is to increase the water supply availability within the region for industrial and urban purposes, and support agricultural development. The Detailed Business Case will concentrate on the Rookwood Weir component of the project, which has the capacity to store the full amount of water able to be allocated under the current Water Resource Plan (76,000 mega litres).
