The forecast opening of the Sunshine Coast University Hospital (SCUH) in April 2017 is expected to fundamentally change health care delivery across the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (SCHHS) region. Some of the services currently provided by Nambour Hospital will be relocated to SCUH and its role in the SCHHS network will change to a sub-acute facility. Accordingly, some refurbishment and reorganisation is likely to be required to ensure that Nambour Hospital performs its required functions and operates efficiently.

The objective of the proposal is to meet the functional requirements of the Nambour Hospital in line with its new role. The proposal is investigating options to:

  • reconfigure Nambour Hospital
  • refurbish the facility
  • optimise operational and clinical efficiencies.
