Roma Hospital is the major acute facility for the South West Hospital and Health Service.

Parts of the existing hospital are over 70 years old, with high lifecycle costs resulting in increased demand for maintenance expenditure. Capital works to address urgent infrastructure requirements have been progressed, however the structural work only provides a short-term solution. On the basis of the preliminary business case, a proposal for redevelopment of the hospital is being progressed.

Redevelopment of Roma Hospital has been identified as a priority project for capital funding under the State Health Infrastructure Plan and Enhancing Regional Hospitals program.

The objective is to replace ageing infrastructure while concurrently redesigning Roma Hospital so that the delivery of contemporary models of care is enabled by the new facility.

Site master planning including preparation of the project definition plan and schematic design is being undertaken during the business case development.
