Proposal Stage of Development: Preliminary business case
Building Queensland Role: Assist

The Rockhampton Ring Road aims to resolve several challenges for transport infrastructure through Rockhampton, including safety, efficiency and reliability.

It is the key piece of road infrastructure recommended in the Fitzroy River Floodplain and Road Planning Study (December 2011), which investigated long-term solutions for Bruce Highway flooding impacts on road and rail transport in and around the city of Rockhampton.

The Bruce Highway—Rockhampton Ring Road is a proposed western link of the Bruce Highway to the west of Rockhampton, with key linkages into the city at the Capricorn Highway, Ridgelands Road, Alexandra Street and Yaamba Road (Rockhampton-Yeppoon Road).

This major infrastructure project within the Central Queensland region will improve freight efficiency, safety, flood resilience and job opportunities, as well as improve connectivity between key employment and residential growth areas of Rockhampton.
